Yes, we’ve had quite a lot of feedback on Twitter about the trouble and harassment from this company and many others the world over. And yes, it does seem that giving out any contact details these days can lead to them getting passed around one way or the other.

And especially where calling individuals on personal phone lines at home or on a mobile phone this seems wholly inappropriate – especially when the number is registered to not receive cold calls. A similar thing to what you mentioned is available in the UK for individuals called the TPS – Telephone Preference Service. Having a number registered on the TPS is supposed to stop any cold / marketing calls from companies, however many people still seem to get call after call despite having their number(s) registered Do Not Call.

As you’ve said, you’re careful with your information, so it does bring into question how they are managing to get hold of your information. With information and data becoming ever more valuable, it wouldn’t surprise me if some companies were trading information, especially with “selected partners”.

It’s a good idea to report phone numbers that don’t respect your wishes – at the very least it means that they get publicly named and shamed and hopefully action gets taken against them by the relevant authorities.

From the point of view of an individual, if you wanted what they were selling, you’ve probably already gone out and bought it!

The worst thing is when you ask them to stop calling, they seem to call more and more. I really don’t understand how some of these companies marketing strategies are created – they seem ludicrous!

Fingers crossed for you that you don’t have too many marketing calls! Legislation in this area really does need to be strengthened.

This is why I never stop reporting phone numbers to http://www.callercenter.com and the FTC. these callers are not welcome. They should be reported for phone call harassment.
